Loss & Change

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Emilie Sandy initiated an online workshop for people who had experienced the death of a loved one. The workshop was co-facilitated by Dr Neil Gibson, whose experience in therapeutic photography helped inform the programme.

Over six weeks, participants used photography to explore themes of loss, change, identity, self-efficacy and empowerment. Each session included theoretical input, group discussion and creative exercises, followed by an opportunity to reflect on and share the photographic work made during the week.

The workshop created a supportive online space in which participants could explore their experiences of grief and change through photography and creative expression.
