GriefZine™

Currently in development.

GriefZine™ is an emerging digital publication dedicated to grief, memory and creativity.

Bringing together portraits, interviews, personal archives, photography, artwork and lived experience, it aims to create a space where conversations about loss can be thoughtful, honest and visually engaging.

The publication will feature contributions from artists, writers, practitioners and members of the public, alongside AFTER, an ongoing portrait and interview series exploring what remains, what changes and what comes after loss.

GriefZine™ will also showcase selected work and stories emerging from Picture My Grief workshops, helping to build an evolving archive of creativity, remembrance and lived experience.

As the publication develops, it will feature original interviews, photographic essays, creative submissions, personal archives, workshop outcomes and conversations with people shaping contemporary discussions around grief, bereavement, remembrance and loss.

The GriefZine™ Workshop

A creative exploration of grief, memory and continuing bonds through photography and zine-making.

The GriefZine™ Workshop offers a creative way to explore grief, honour someone important, and create something tangible to keep or share.

Taking place over two half-day sessions, participants create a personal GriefZine™: a small, self-published booklet that brings together photographs, memories, stories and reflections.

During the first session, participants create photographs inspired by memories, objects, places and experiences connected to their grief. Participants are also invited to bring personal photographs, letters, cards, documents and other meaningful items from their own archive. These materials can be scanned and incorporated into the final publication alongside newly created images.

Between sessions, photographs and archival materials are prepared for print.

In the second session, participants assemble their GriefZine™, combining photographs, personal archives, words and creative experimentation to create a unique publication reflecting their memories, experiences and continuing relationship with the person who has died.

No previous photography or creative experience is required.

Each GriefZine™ will be different. For some it may become a keepsake; for others, a tribute, a family record, a conversation starter or simply a place where memories can be gathered and held.

The workshop provides a supportive environment in which to explore grief through image-making, storytelling and hands-on creative practice.

Selected GriefZines™ may, with participants' permission, be featured within future editions of GriefZine™, helping to build a collective archive of memory, creativity and lived experience.
